Enjoy a Museum Tour of Rhode Island with the Family

Visit These Rhode Island Museums

Making the most of your time in Rhode Island will be easy when you check out any of these seven museums. If yachting is your thing, you're in luck – head for Newport and tour the Museum of Yachting, while others will enjoy the John Waterman Arnold House.

1. Warwick Museum of Art

What Rhode Island lacks in overall square footage, it certainly makes up for with a wide range of excellent things to see and do. Plan a visit to Warwick and check out the very impressive Warwick Museum of Art, easily accessed from Interstate 95. Closed Sunday – Tuesday, the WMOA features a bevy of exceptional exhibits, edifying for young and old.

Operated by the Warwick Historical Society, the John Waterman Arnold House continually proves to yield historic insights into the Warwick area of Rhode Island. Only minutes inland from the Providence River, the John Waterman House features artifacts from his time as a colonel in the Warwick Militia.

3. International Tennis Hall of Fame

One of Newport's premier tennis-themed attractions, the International Tennis Hall of Fame is certainly worth a visit for anyone who loves the sport – and even if you don't, there's plenty to see here. Find the ITHF just inland of the Newport Harbor along Bellevue Avenue. Explore the ITHF Museum for a look back at some of the best to ever play the game. Tennis anyone?

4. New England Wireless & Steam Museum

When traveling with the kids through the West Greenwich area of Rhode Island, be sure to treat them to an edifying afternoon at the New England Wireless & Steam Museum. Found just outside of Camp Fogarty Training Center along Frenchtown Road, this museum highlights the world of mechanical and electrical engineering.
